Look - an eagle!

We were down in the tulip fields, driving along looking for tulips, of course, and I spotted a Bald Eagle on the ground - in a puddle - in a  field.  U-Turn - stop the car - take the photos - because he might leave at any minute.

He kept looking about - not sure what he was looking for, he has no predators

He had just taken a drink of the water - click to enlarge and see the water droplets by his beak

I just kept taking pictures of him as long as he stood there

And then he took off - I was lucky to get this shot, he left so quickly.

Beautiful photographs JoAnn - i have seen them in the US many times, but never on the ground. I think that when one is in a vehicle they don't associate it with humans.

Beautiful shots! Lucky you! I saw one or two eagles in the valley, but they were all very high in the air, as they usually are when I see them.

Great shots Jo!! I always love seeing eagles. One time I was coming home on the train and we were along the Sound where LOTS of eagles hang out. The lady who was giving a lecture on flora and fawna (sp) yells out "Oh look and eagle is flying with us!!" Silly woman it was a Blue Heron LOL.

Really wonderful shots, JoAnn! So nice to see him so close up! What an intense stare they have and that beak! I would not want to run into that! Amazing photos. xoxo

So majestic! I have never seen one outside of a zoo, sadly. Your pictures are real treasures!
Just finished reading about your first trip in an elevator...how sweet. I would have been as cautious as you were, too.
I am not surprised that you enjoy observing things and taking photos of them. Your childhood was a real wonderland of places and people to study!

Wow. I think I would have had shivers up my spine!

And he was looking straight at you in one pic. Saying " you better get a clear shot! " :)
