Valentine Dinner

A few weeks ago it was birthday party time for one of our son-in-laws and I thought a Valentine theme would be nice.  It is a good chance to get out all the red and white dishes (well, not all of them).
I started with a red lace tablecloth - add red and white dishes - and some crystal
 Add in some milk glass
And treats on the side - brownies - candies and cheesecake (made by our youngest daughter)

White dinner plates - clear red salad plates-translucent white soup bowls, crystal napkin rings on heart napkins.

 Dreamy hearts
Then I decided to try the crocheted tablecloth over the red lace and liked it much better

 Red handled flatware
Also some silver filigree napkin rings

Adding in a bit of pink glass
Since there were more people at the birthday party than would fit around our table - we quickly re-set it as a buffet.
Flatware in a white enameled pail

 Ready for the salad dressing
 Here comes the food
While I was setting the table - Don decided to help out with the red and white theme - so he brought several things that coordinated with the them - like his baseball.
Can you find the other things in the photos that he "helped out" with?

It was a grand birthday party!

It's a lovely table setting, very cheery looking--even if it ended up being a buffet.

I do agree that the crocheted tablecloth over the red is perfect. Red and white is so cheerful, perfect for a Valentines Day birthday celebration. I love the red and white chicken on the plate! I have a set of red and white ceramic rooster napkin rings that that would have loved to be part of such a happy birthday tablescape.

By the way, did the cheesecake taste as good as it looked? I can just imagine savoring it's sweet goodness with a cup of tea.

Have a wonderful week..... Hugs, Candy
