The Weekly Thrift

I love going to thrift stores - finding little treasures - and big treasures.

I have my Granny's Desert Rose Dishes. They were her every day dishes and I loved them the first time I ever saw them.  I received a huge box of them in the mail as a surprise about 20 years ago.  From time to time we add some extra pieces, always from thrift stores, flea markets or yard sales.

I have three different sizes of cups, these little ones might have been for after-dinner coffee, or for mugs of milk for the children.

I have plates in four sizes, bowls in five sizes, platters, coffee pots, cream and sugar, salt shakers - oh so many wonderful things.

And at a thrift store I discovered some of the prettiest pale green glasses.  I thought they would be the perfect match for the Desert Rose, and when I got home, I discovered that they were perfect.  I  am still looking to find more so I can serve more than 4 people at a time with them.

Oh, JoAnn, I have always loved that pattern! Aren't the colors so soft and sweet? You are so lucky to have these as a remembrance of your Dear Grandmother! I just love the little rosebud salt and pepper shakers, too. The green glasses are perfect. I hope you find some more, they will look lovely together. Hugs xx Karen

Thrift stores sound a lovely idea JoAnn. We do have charity shops here where it is possible to pick up a matching piece sometimes - I collect Minton Haddon Hall and found a nice little piece the other week.

My neighbor had a whole set of those, I often wonder what happened to them after she passed away. Fun collection!
