Spring Birds that Visit

One day a crow landed on the bird feeder, but couldn't get any seeds as it is a squirrel-proof and obviously crow-proof feeder.  The chain in front of the crow is from a hanging bird bath.

Varied Thrushes come through every spring.  They love the seeds on the dried flowers in the planters on the deck.

Several hummingbirds overwinter here and we keep the feeders full for them.

Black Headed Grossbeaks migrate through every spring and autumn and I was lucky to catch this one at the feeder.

And this squirrel thinks he is a bird - he "flies" over to the feeder from the deck, but never can get any seeds.  He is persistent and tries every few days.

What birds come through and visit your yard every year?

We get pretty standard birds -- robins, blue jays, crows, magpies, chickadees, etc.

I love those varied thrushes...I have never seen one in real life. Like the Evening Grosbeak, too.

Had to refill my feeder. The chipmunks jump on top to tip out the seeds. Unfortunately they usually fall into the lake rather than on the bridge. The must get some because they don't give up. - Margy

I've taken my feeders down, except for the hummingbirds. We have bears!
I am happy to enjoy your birds, though.

Nice selection! Crows are so smart. I don't see them at my feeders, only around the farm.

I love your bird pictures and miss the variety of birds we used to have before all the gardens became buildings. Our crown are now snatching baby birds from their nests rather than bothering with seed feeders, I have been sweeping "leftovers" in my daily cleaning.

Joann - we had the blackheaded grosbeaks for a few days, and earlier in the month the evening grosbeaks. Both such handsome birds. The rest of our birds are pretty constant around here - blackbirds, pine siskins, house finches, flickers, downy woodpeckers. Yesterday I spotted a western tanager high in a larch tree. That was a treat!
