Seagulls

When we went to Orcas Island we had beautiful weather and a wonderful beach to explore and enjoy - we had a picnic lunch and were entertained by the seagulls.
Some were landing on the piling on the beach by our picnic
Some were disputing who got to sit on the piling
 Some were victorious
While others tried again and again
 Sometimes no competition
Sometimes a bit of an argument
 Sometimes victory

A good stretch felt wonderful in the sunshine
Flocks feeding on the herring in the bay

A wonderful picnic with spectacular entertrainment.

What a lovely way to have a picnic watching all the gulls landing on that post and you managed to get great flight shots. Have a great weekend.

Oh my, these are wonderful shots. I love the wings!! How lucky you are to live in, and take advantage of such a beautiful area. I hear fog horns. I remember flying in a small aircraft over your area and it was magical.

Great shots! I heard a seagull outside my window as I looked at them. Even better with authentic sound effects!

JoAnn, I'm so glad you had a wonderful picnic and some interesting entertainment. Coming from Santa Cruz, seagulls are questionable, as to how entertaining they are to me!! But they are graceful and look like they minded their manners around you..Happy Weekend.Judy

During winter months, a "pond" in Tokyo has many season visitors and among them Black-headed Gulls (in winter plumage without black heads). They are so entertaining and hard to stop taking pictures of. Whatever the gull or the country, they are much the same.
