Books Sunlit Sunday

Our family loves books - all sorts of books.  What could bring more sunshine into our lives than books?

Don's aunt and his mother (right).  This was taken by a traveling photographer, not just to show their pride in their daughters, but also to show their pride in the books and bookcase in a farmer's home.

Our oldest daughter reading a Harriet Carter Catalog - 1966.

Grandson Ben writing a list of the books he had read by himself for a school project.

Grandson Jahn-Zyel and a book of dinosaurs.

Ben reading a book to me about sharks, at first grade open house.

Grandson Donnie reading to Elmo in the car.

Grampy reading to Donnie

And keeping with our family's love of books - there is a link to the book I have written about growing up in Alaska in the early 1950s at the top of the blog.  Click the book (it says "click here")

Thanks for stopping by - and I hope you enjoy a good book today. Books are a sunny place to be!

Very sweet pictures. Especially the last one. One of my favorite scenes in my house is that of my soon to be 9 year old walking across the family room with her nose in a book. She is so immersed in it she can't manage to put it down just for a moment to get from point A to point B. Books are special.

This is a lovely series of photos that shows the joy and importance of books to your family. How nice that the love of the printed word has moved from generation to generation and even extended as far as you writing a book.

Thank you for sharing your "bookish" photos at Sunlit Sunday.

Books bring sunshine, for certain! What a lovely set of photos portraying your family's love of books and reading. The first photo is fascinating; those two girls with their precision hair cuts and timely outfits really give a glimpse of the past. Photos of children (and grandpa) reading are always precious.

That's a great post. Your pictures bring smiles to my face. Books weren't much a part of me as a child so I made sure they were with my kids. They both love books and reading in general. I love the last shot- precious!

The black and white photo reminds me of my mother and one of her photos when she was a child.

Books have always been a part of my life. I told my children when they were growing up, if you read a book, you always have a friend close at hand. Great post and great pictures.
