Wee Ones - New Doll Clothes

This is going to be a fun summer - of sewing and doll clothes and friendship.  My sweet friend Diane - of Lavender Dreams - and I are having a doll clothes challenge.  Be sure to check out her doll outfit too.

We will both use the same fabrics and pick a pattern to sew.  We are not going to tell each other which pattern we have picked - and the reveal in our posts will be the first time we see what the other has sewn.  It is going to be fun to see how similar or how different our choices are.
These are the fabrics that Diane picked for our first project - hearts and dots and plain white.

We each have a stack of the same fabrics - one person picks a fabric or fabrics and then we sew.  After that project is done - the other person gets to pick a fabric from the stack.  We will have a fun summer and our dolls will have new clothes - this will probably carry on into the fall and winter.  Let the fun begin.

And here are the clothes - I decided since it was summer to use patterns for a romper and a short sundress. Abbey and Poppy are ready for some fun in the sun.
Our weather has been so wonderful lately that I wanted to spend as much time as possible on the deck - but also wanted to sew the doll clothes - so this is my solution.
I took my Singer Featherweight sewing machine out to the deck and sewed among the flowers and birds - I think it is the perfect solution.  I sewed for two wonderful days on the deck.
Abigail and Poppy are ready for the beach with their sunsuits and sand pails.
Pink rick rack worked with both fabrics

 Flip Flops
And Mary Janes with hearts completed their outfits
Abigail has a hair scrunchy in the dots fabric
 And Poppy has red ribbons
Looks like a good day for a trip to the beach.

This is my first time to your blog. I'm popping over from Diane's at Lavender Dreams and read her post about the doll clothes challenge. How darling! I love the two sweet outfits you made. Did you crochet the little sandals too? Oh, I love it. My grand daughter just recently got an 18" doll and I'm sewing in secret for her doll and will be posting every Wednesday a doll outfit. Hope you'll pop in to see me sometimes.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

The friends we make in blogging are wonderful! This is so (or should I say "sew"?) much fun! You did a beautiful job on the clothing and the little shoes are a perfect match! I've never seen anyone sew out on the deck - but wow - what a grand idea!!!

Oh JoAnn, Abbey and Poppy are adorable in there cute little sun dresses. Every detail is perfect right down to the flip flops. You must of had some lovely weather to be able to sew out on the deck. I love the idea of the sewing challenge, everything is more fun when you do it with a friend especially fun projects like the doll clothes. I am heading over to Lavender Dreams to see what Diane made. Have a wonderful day..... Candy
