Autumn Leaves in the Rain

The autumn rains in NW Washington start any time from mid August to, this year - late October.  This is a strange year - a long warm summer, followed by a long warm autumn - and still we have sunny and warm days in between the rain storms -  and it is almost November.  I'll take it - no complaints here.
But when it rains - sometimes it is beautiful and peaceful - often a soft dripping rain, and other times a heavy rain - both give us the rain we need to keep our state the "Evergreen State".
A few drops - the leaves wait

 Soaking up the drops

Dripping with droplets - quenching their thirst
Water will drip down to the roots - more leaves will grow next year
Ahh the joy of rain on autumn leaves.

When I see pictures like this, I recall times before the internet when everything we saw was filtered through a book publisher. There is so much talent out there from "ordinary" people and blogging has become a showcase for it all. I always love seeing your variety and the lovely colors and compositions.
And when I refer to you as an "ordinary" person, it is meant as the highest compliment! I know you are self taught but your skill is at a professional level!

That looks a lot like a Katsura, tree native to Japan ... in fact, the largest deciduous tree native to Japan, one of my favorite woods for carving as well.

Hi Jo,
I wish could find the macro setting on my camera. I can't believe it does not have one. You have inspired me to get out the owner's manual and look.

Your photos are so beautiful. I especially like the fourth one down today. The "edge shot."

Your photos capture so beautifully the soft rain that falls here. Autumn is lovely. I heard the plops falling onto the ground as I lay in bed last night. Our window was wide-open again because of the unseasonable warmth. Incredible golden days.

One good wind storm and some heavier rain and those lovely leaves will drift down to the ground and start the cycle over again.

Always enjoy the sound of rain on big leaves like oak leaves.
