Snow

After the ice storm - a snow storm.  Snowed all night and almost all day.  Fairly unusual for NW Washington State - the last few winters we've not had any snow at all.
But last night we had snow - lots of snow - almost 4 inches to start with

I forgot to bring in the hummingbird feeder last night for our overwintering hummingbirds - so it was piled high with snow this morning.  Look closely to the left - there is a hummingbird in the photo above.
I zoomed in and got a better shot of her - she was pecking at the snow - we brought the feeder in, thawed it and filled it with fresh hummingbird nectar and put it back outdoors - and tonight I remembered to bring it in.
The two flower pots sitting on the deck railing are planted with spring bulbs - and topped with hats of snow
 Lots of snow
A table full of snow
A junco came to the seed feeder for a sunflower breakfast
 Four Juncos at the buffet
A junco waiting its turn on the newly filled hummingbird feeder
And here comes the Varied Thursh - he was pecking the snow and "drinking" it - over and over
Waiting on the frame of the deck chair - those pesky Juncos are taking too long to eat

My turn!

It is still snowing and another two inches have accumulated - looks like tomorrow is another day of working at home for Don.  I'm liking it.

Any snow at your house?

We are having very blustery winds ... the last two days coming from the west but now having switched to north. Just listening to the rattle of the windows males glad to be inside. Luckily blue skies and no snow in site.

You are having Ohio weather! And we're having Georgia's weather. It was 60 degrees today and when my husband came home from work he OPENED SOME WINDOWS!!! This is unreal.

I didn't know that hummingbirds over wintered! Ours sure don't. They don't come back till late spring, actually - or maybe they do and because I didn't think they did I don't put out the feeders till it stops snowing. We've known snow in April, so anything goes haha.

I love your birdie pics, just lovely.

Stay warm, safe and dry - sip tea and read a good book by the fire!

Lots of snow! I hope that your garden birds will all be alright with all of that white stuff everywhere, I am sure you will care for them very well! Stay safe and warm!

Hello, I heard about the recent snow Washington had yesterday. My niece lives in Snowqualmie and had a snow day. She works in Seattle. I love your pretty Juncos and the Varied Thrush is beautiful. Great series of photos. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

Yes, the west coast is really getting hammered this winter, isn't it?

Wow JoAnn, that's a first, seeing a hummingbird in the snow, amazing! You must almost feel like you're back in Alaska!!!!

All the birds are beautiful - I think they are lovely to photograph when snow falls, and how busy they stay finding food and water.

Enjoy while you can - a change in the weather for Bellingham I'm sure.
Hugs - Mary

That is a lot of snow indeed, glad to see that the birds haven't been affected too much, they know a good restaurant when the see one obviously!
No snow here in Normandy in fact the Senior Partner actually got the mower out this afternoon and cut the grass.
Lovely to have you joining us for MM again this week.

What crazy snow in February, yes! Our feeders look just like yours do. Conical hats on all of them. Yesterday and today the Pine Siskins came to the feeders in great droves. Fun to see them. I call them the precursors to Gold Finches. 22 degrees this morning. Crunchy and frozen today.
Stay warm
