Among the Pilings

The slough in Birch Bay has very old pilings - covered in mussels
And often with a Great Blue Heron wading in the water - waiting to pick up some lunch

Reflections
Maybe better fishing over there.

They are beautiful birds and that's a pretty setting for photos. One flew over me going towards the pond last night when I walked. They look neat flying with their heads pulled in so that their neck is curved. Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

Awesome photos, JoAnn! I love seeing Great Blue Herons, they are elegant. We have a few I see around here from time to time.
Have a great week.

I am struck by what a rich value scale your photo describes! It's an example of how a monochromatic scheme relaxes!

Great shots. Glad the Heron stuck around for you to get all these shots. MB

We saw our heron at the cabin a few weeks ago. It's been the only sighting since last fall. Maybe it has been nesting in a distant area. - Margy
