Amazing!

On the way home last night we stopped by the ponds near our house to see what was going on with the ducks and Canada Geese. We were surprised to see the muted colors on this goose, we hadn't seen her before. She is a leucistic goose (there's a good word to look up in your dictionaries).

She was very patient and let me get lots of photos . . .

Though uncommon, these are surprisingly, not rare . . .

I like the contrast between her and the regular Canada Goose.

Such striking feather colors . . .

The purple reflection in the water is from a house across the pond . . .

A hawk was flying over and she was looking to see if it was a danger to her . . .

No danger - but her friends, the ducks, certainly dove for cover . . .

The blue bill and feet were astounding!

Have you ever seen one of these - or another unusual goose?

I've never seen one of these - tho' I'm keeping an eye out for any Canada Geese that might wish to set up a nursery around our ponds. They are lovely from a distance but like a pack of dogs at close quarters!

Beautiful photographs. I only get to see geese flying over my home in formation. A lovely sight, but I wish they would touch down nearby to see them up close. I find them to be so interesting. Hope all has been well with you, I have had an extensive blog break...just living and enjoying. Hope to be back in the blogging swing soon.

She is so pretty, and I've never even seen anything like her. Just plain ole Canadian geese is all I've ever seen. ~Lili
