Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for several things - for Washington - and for daffodils, to start with.

Moving to Washington from California has been an adjustment for me (from sunshine all the time to rain a lot of the time) and we've been here for 16 years - I still miss my sunny California - but I am thankful to be in Washington too.  Both of our daughters and their families live here - and that is the very best thing about Washington - two grandsons nearby.
And the Washington Daffodils.    The largest grower of daffodils in the country in is Washington - with the unlikely name of RoozenGaarde  (Roozen means Rose in Dutch).  Growing daffodils on thousands of acres of land with over 70 million cut daffodils shipped all over the US annually and 10s of millions of bulbs shipped throughout the U.S. and Canada.
And we get to enjoy the beauty of the fields of daffodils - all kinds and colors.

Last week I showed you the fields of daffodils in bloom this year.  They move the planting area from year to year and it is fun to wander the backroads of Skagit Valley to find the fields each year.  (just weeks following the daffodils we will be searching for the massive fields of tulips)

I am also thankful for this sweetie pie -  our oldest daughter, holding one little daffodil
She is now the mother of this little guy - who is now 12 years old - love of daffodils seems to run in the family.
And I'm thankful for Don - who keeps me in daffodil bouquets from the first bloom to the last.
Bouquets fill our house all daffodil season

And last year when I had the big 7-0 birthday, he hunted all over town to buy masses of bouquets

Daffodil bouquets all season - and the daffodil is the March birthday flower - perfect!
Each bouquet in daffodil season is wonderful - the scent fills our home.

 Small bouquets
 And large!
I even like to paint daffodils

Daffodils nodding in the sunlight - pure joy!

They really are the most beautiful reminder of Spring! We do a daily puzzle on our IPADS every day and yesterday it was the flowers in the fields, in rows! I thought of the photos you've taken and shared! Enjoy your afternoon sweet friend. Hugs, Diane PS I'm thankful for YOU!!!

My kids living in Oregon got together for a great trip to Whidbey Island and had a fine time ... I got to go there by skype. Our spring has finally arrived but the flower is cherry blossoms. I guess they don't take as much space or tending.

I share your love of daffodils. I'm lucky to have bunches of them growing in our yard - I can enjoy them out my kitchen window as long as the wind doesn't completely blow them over.

I love the Daffs too. In fact I think I like the fields of gold almost better than the Tulip fields. shimmery!

I love daffodils. The ones in my float garden are finally in full bloom. The bumblebees like to rest overnight in the centers of the larger variety. I put a few bulbs along the stairs going up the cliff (along with some purple hyacinth) and they are starting to spread. Wish I could get something else to grow there in the meager soil along the granite cliff. - Margy
