Coming In For a Landing

Again - at Birch Bay we find seagulls - landing on the beach right in town.

Watch out below!
Two are unconcerned - one is leaving
Just enough space for one more seagull
Is he standing on the top of the wave?
Plowing into the water as he lands
A perfect landing - I give it a 10!
And then a Great Blue Heron flew by.

I'm always impressed with the compositions you are able to capture with living creatures! The photo with the pair of Canadian geese is a perfect study in formal balance! And that seagull looks fearless, but I don't think I have ever met one who wasn't!

I am impressed with your ability to get pictures of birds in flight. I tried to get pictures of birds on my feeder but they flick around so much that hardly any turn out more than a blur.

Nice series of the gulls. Don't herons make the most prehistoric sound? - Margy

I didn't care all that much for seagulls until I took a series of pictures of them in flight. That changed my mind. Aren't they beautiful? I especially like your shot of the one landing between the Canadian geese - very nice composition!
