Weekly Top Shot #67 - Bald Eagle

This is a good time of the year for spotting eagles.  While driving around on Lummi Island we spotted this eagle high atop a tree.

One of the nice things about eagles is that they will sit for a long time so you can get that perfect shot.

I haven't been able to get close to a bald eagle...except once. Here, they are very common during spring calving season because they eat the afterbirth left in the fields. Sounds yucky, but it serves a purpose!

Beautiful! I LOVE our Washington eagles, though I usually can't get close enough to get shots like this one.
