Five in Five

Let's have some fun - 5 photos - taken in 5 minutes - on the 5th of the month.

For Mother's Day one of my gifts was a lovely planter filled with flowers - from our oldest daughter and her family.  Another gift was a wonderful bouquet of wildflowers and ferns from our youngest daughter, picked on their mountain - Forget-me-nots and ferns.  By the time I took the photos the Forget-me-nots had  wilted away - but the memory lingers.  Whenever we see Forget-me-nots we think of Don's mother - they were her favorite flower.

A sunshiney day today - and the big flower pot, full of Verbena (not blooming yet), small pink petunias, a specialty red petunia grown just for pots, called a POTunia and a lovely spikey red grass.

And the wild roses are beginning to bloom on the roadsides - masses of them everywhere - in all shades from purest white to dark pink.

Beautiful flowers. The forget me not and ferns sounded lovely too.

My mother loved petunias but way back then, one had to pick off the finished flowers to keep the plant blooming. Since my mother could not get town on the ground and do it, that was one of my jobs. Today's varieties are so much lovlier and will continue to bloom the whole summer, even with neglect.

What lovely flowers JoAnn, handpicked forget-me-nots from a mountain sound wonderful too, it is a shame they are so delicate and do not last. It is a rainy, blustery day here, so your flowers have given me something to smile about. Thank you for sharing and taking part in 5 in 5.

Many thanks for your visit, JoAnn! It is so lovely to read such warm thoughts about my photos and I'm so glad if you enjoyed them so much! I just tried to show some perspectives in my pictures posted and different ways of seeing things through added layers like sepia or b&w filters.
Also, I like so much your photos and the varities of blooms in your garden; and May, for sure, it is such a great month, a month of real amazing beauty, nature being so bright and colorful. For Mother's day, you received such a pretty gift, a joy for soul!
Thank you for sharing these delicate blossoms with all of us! A lovely week in June!

I especially love the wild roses. They're blooming all over the recreation area near our house. I never found ones that were scented in California but the ones in Washington have a heavenly fragrance. I especially love this time of year because of them.
