The Barn Collective - Wisconsin, Part One

Let's go to Wisconsin for some old barns.  We went back to Wisconsin for Don's 50th High School reunion, and took a few days to explore the countryside.
We saw a few barns with quilts painted on them - and a cement silo

A corn field in front of a barn with a painted quilt

We also saw silos built with local stones - gathered from the fields
A very good job of fitting the stones together into the round shape of the silo
 And a shingled roof
The roof is gone on this silo after all the years in the harsh winters of Wisconsin

A stone shed on the same farm
And a stone foundation, the barn is long gone
Next week - part two of Wisconsin barns

Quilt barns are always a treat to find. The stone silo is special, I have only found a couple. Thanks for linking this great collection. Please return again. Tom The Backroads Traveller

Cool rock silos...wonder why we don't see more of them. I would think they would be so much sturdier than wood or all the metal ones around here.
Have a great week, JoAnn.

I don't think I've seen stone silos before. It certainly looks like they're built to last.
I love the quilt patterns painted on the barns. It lends so much character, doesn't it?

Having done my share of rock -picking, it is good to see them put to use.
