Friday Greens

This dry summer has given us a lot of dry, brown plants - but there is always green in Washington.
Lake Padden is another city park in Bellingham.  No motors are allowed on the lake and no one is allowed to build on park property so it is wild and peaceful.  Canoes and kayaks are very popular here - and some of those stand-up surf boards (not sure what they are exactly called) are also used here.  Sometimes wind surfers come to the lake but it is so protected by the hills and woods that there is not a lot of wind.
Along with the green trees there is the green water
These three guys paddled around and around the lake
And a canoe with two others in it went past
They seemed to be having a grand time
Behind the three kayakers - in the green woods - you can see Don walking on one of the many trails around the lake.  They have walking, bike and horse trails, but no motors are allowed on the trails either.
One, two, three - all in synchronized paddling
Goodbye canoe!

I think the stand-up units are called paddleboards.
I like your three synchronized paddlers!

What a wonderful place! So beautiful... and motors not allowed. I'd like that! :)
Thank you for sharing and have a lovely weekend!

The only way we are to preserve such pristine places is to aggressively keep out the motors, the billboards and everything else that spoils things for people like you (and me!). The "evergreen state" is beautiful.

Yes, although it's been so dry this summer, there's always green somewhere. What a peaceful lake. Not allowing motors is such a great idea. Hope your weekend is going well.

The moss on our hill is gray and tan, but right after a rain it turns bright green again for a day or two, and then reverts back. - Margy

Beautiful! It's wonderful to find a lush part of the world like that to spend time in during Summer.
