Signs, Signs - February 13

We have taken several vacations to Eastern Washington - a spectacular place to visit.  On  our first trip we came across this great old sign.

The sign was old and faded, this side was fairly clear yet, but the other side was worn and much more faded  and almost unreadable from years of sun, wind, rain and snow.

And here is the cafe - built in a Quonset Hut - I had friends in school in Alaska who lived in a remodeled Quonset hut and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

This cafe was located near Dry Falls, in the Sun Lakes State Park and I can still see the echoes of people stopping here on their vacation trip, getting a hamburger and fries and a chocolate milkshake. The kids, happy to be out of the car for a little while, scrambled about in the trees, finding treasures of all sorts.

The older couple sat in their car, or perhaps at the outdoor picnic table and smiled at the children and the parents, who were glad for a little relaxation and time for the kids to use up some of their energy.

The local teenagers, stopping for a coke and some fries, hoping someone special from High School would stop by at the same time.  The wonderful memories this old sign holds.

I love old abandoned buildings. Those are the ones I tend to not stop to take photos because "I am on my way to..."

I was really enjoying the old sign and thinking it shouldn't take too much to refurbish, but then the quonset hut set my heart a-quiver! I don't know why, but I love that design. then again, the sign and shape of the building don't exactly match. but I guess that is a moot point now.....

Establishment signs usually should be big and eye-catching like this one. If you’re new to an area, the first thing you'll be noticing are all these different signs. Signs carry the company or brands that consumers love. I love watching a show called "The Pickers" where they search different areas in the U.S. for unusual items and some of it were old signages. The signs may be old and rusted but they’re still worth a lot of money 'cause signs are what represent companies all over the world.
