And Then It Snowed

Thursday afternoon I looked at the weather forecast - it said possible snow flurries.  Well, I checked around - looked at other forecasts - one said rain - another said rain and snow mixed - no one could agree.
And then it snowed
And snowed
And snowed!!!
The bird feeders were topped off with snow  - but the birds could hop inside to get some seeds
Some summer things had not been brought in off the deck - we weren't expecting snow.
A wooden crow wears a crown of snow, the bird feeders look like Russian Cathedrals
The Hummingbird feeder before we cleaned it off, next to another snow hat wooden crow
A table full of snow - we got almost 5 inches - snow covered metal chickens below the table

The two lumps on the right side of the table are the gnomes,  Tammson and Pirphal.  They are nice and snug in their warm coat of snow.  Don't worry about them, gnomes are magical and love the snow.

And it snowed!!!  Under the wooden crow is a bright yellow mum.

Forgot to bring in Sawing Man Whirligig - no wood sawing today.

 The woods across the street.
It looks strange to see the Autumn leaves still on the trees and snow.  This is the earliest we have had snow here in 45 years.  Let's hope this is not the norm for this winter - though they have forecast a colder winter this year, but then they forecast only flurries this week.

Wow, we got snow but you got more. Its so pretty when falling from the sky. My husband spent time this weekend taking things off our back patio and storing it away until next Spring. I cleared off the front porch and we shoveled a walkway to the mailbox. Winter is here. Shopping in town yesterday the temperature was 17 degrees.

What a wonderful way to start Mosaic Monday with the first snow of the season! The weather man really got it wrong this time. Do you think it will melt away are is this the start of winter in your neck of the woods?
Stay warm, stay safe!

Thanks for sharing with us. Those photos are beautiful. It isn't snowing here but it is really cold because of the blazing freezing wind.

That really does look amazing...like scenes out of Narnia! It looks pretty and the first few snows are always neat. Hard to believe I am sitting here with the ceiling fan going...on high! Enjoy your afternoon sweet friend. Hope you have some sewing or crochet to work on inside! Hugs!

Lorrie - I can relate - we have had 6 - 10 inches of snow in Montana, depending on location. And what's more, it doesn't look like we are going to have a warming trend - so it looks like it is here to stay! The gnome shot had me busting out in giggles - so glad you explained what was hidden under that mantle of white! Have a cozy week!

Joann - sorry about my last comment - meant to say JoAnn, not Lorrie!

I am already starting to shiver from looking at all of that snow. Brrrr..... We just had a cold front move in last night. 68 degrees one day and a high in the low forties the next day. I feel lucky that we got 3 inches of rain instead of snow.

Have a great evening.... Hugs, Candy

Oh my. You really did get a lot of snow. It's very pretty, but oh, so early. I wonder what the rest of the winter will be like. I guess we just have to take what comes!

I'm surprised the snow didn't bring down branches with so many leaves still on them. It looks like rather heavy wet snow too.

It kind of makes me homesick to be back up north.

Whoa, JoAnn! You really DID get a lot of snow! My friend up at 2500 feet got about 6 inches by the time the snow was done on Sunday. Down here, so close to sea level, the Friday snow melted by midday and if we got any on Sunday we slept through its coming and going. I'm told that here too it hasn't snowed this early in 45 years.
