The Barn Collective

On one of our trips to Guemes Island last summer (a five minute ferry ride) we did find a few barns.  The island is now mostly homes built for retirement or vacations, with farming giving way to newer houses.
A new roof on an old barn
Probably a chicken house rather than a cow barn
You can't tell the inside from the outside - the grass has overgrown everything

We did see a large field full of commercially grown blueberries - perfectly ripe - can't wait for this year's berry crops.
Poor old abandoned barn.

Neat old barns. I like going to Guemes Island. Did you go agate hunting on the beach? Kinda fun.

It won't be long before that chicken house disappears into the undergrowth.

The poor old abandoned barn is still standing strong, but the chicken house is a different story. It's good that you have recorded these barns before they disappear into history, in many areas the agricultural landscape is fading away. Thanks JoAnn for sharing this week and I hope that you will have more to come.

Hello, I love these old weathered wood barns. I would be checking out all the windows to see if a barn owl was sitting there. The blueberries look delicious, I hope ours grow well this year. Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week ahead!

I love old barns and used to pick blackberries around an old one...years ago. I was wondering what you are up to this weekend! Are you sewing? (I better get busy!) Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

What a nice old barn...don't you wish we could save all the old barns we see!

There is something good about looking at barns ...
I do like those blueberries, one of my favourite fruits.

All the best Jan

I agree with Tom's comment. Someday it will only be pictures like yours that preserve what we once had on the landscape of America. It's too bad that wholesome home grown food is being replaced by inhumane factory farms and "food" that is more chemicals than not.
Those blueberries look terrific though, and they're probably an exception!

The side of the chicken shed looks like someone attacked it...I wonder if someone was trying to scavenge the wood. Sad.
Berries! Strawberries come first here. Still some time to wait. {{sigh}}

When one is living in a rabbit hutch, it is a little sad to see those big roomy barns being neglected.

I love the old barns...but why would someone go to the expense of putting a nice roof on, then abandon it? Those roofs don't come cheaply!
Have a great week, JoAnn.

Seems weird to put the new roof on the old barn. Maybe the inside is fixed up and won't fall down. Maybe
