Six Words Friday - Drive

A drive in the Kentucky Countryside
And West Virginia parks and preserves
Wonder how many birds we'll see
Brown Thrasher pecking among the leaves
A new bird for our list
Cardinals high up in the trees
The bird I most wanted to photograph
On our trip to West Virginia

I don't think deer can read

Canada Geese - Green Bottom Preservation Area
Nesting  on top a beaver lodge?
"Mall" Mocking bird - atop car roof
In Grayson Lake Stare Park - Kentucky

Mallard - same state park in Kentucky

Eastern Kingbird - another first for us

Eastern Phoebe - small and very charming

Red Winged Blackbird - in West Virginia
A robin hopping on the lawn
Semipalmated Sandpaper - one quick photo - gone
House Sparrow - near West Virginia floodwall
Starling -  looking for a tasty tidbit for

Flap flap flap - I'm very hungry
Where's my mother?  I need food

Downy Woodpeckers in the Oak Tree

A fabulous drive in West Virginia
And then over into Kentucky too

New birds for my life list
Brown Thrasher, House Sparrow, Eastern Kingbird
Mocking Bird (called Mopping Bird by
our grandson Ben when he was young
And a cardinal - my prize photographs

Stunning photographs. The cardinal is beautiful, and the eastern kingbird looks very majestic. I like the dainty looking eastern phoebe.. I often hear woodpeckers when I am walking in the woods, but have never managed to see them.

Oh,I do love the photos. Cardinal is Ohio's state bird and I miss seeing them. I think I am beginning to forget American birds. I used to be able to identify them by voice. Deer aren't the only animals that can't read. I have a picture of a kingfisher sitting on a "No Fishing" sign with a fish dangling from his beak.

What a trip! And all so well described with your six words!! I would like to get more cardinal photos myself....I particularly want one "great" on on a snowy branch...maybe next winter! The birdie calling out for food is my favorite shot! Well done!

Hello JoAnn, visiting for the first time from Six Word Fridays. Really swell photos! My favorite is the second starling shot where you can see the turquoise on his back. I especially like starlings for that reason: they look black, but they have those light flecks on them and iridescent feathers. Happy Weekend to you. :)

What a collection! I felt like I was right up there in the tree tops! My favorite is the starling. You really captured the glossy sheen!

That was a great drive! I have seen so few cardinals - just once, in spring in southern Arizona. And the eastern kingbird and phoebe are nice additions to your list. I can't say that I've seen those before. Beautiful birds, all...and the deer look healthy and well fed, too!

What a wonderful collection of bird photos. The cardinals are so bright and lovely. Too bad we don't have them here in the west.

What a good collection of bird photos - a few of them are familiar UK birds too but the robin always looks odd to me as it is so different from the British robin. It must have been a very enjoyable drive.
