Sunlit Sunday

With all the rainy days we've had lately - it has been difficult  impossible to get any sunshine photos. So I've picked some of my favorite heron photos on a sunny late afternoon, to share with you.

We were driving past Drayton Harbor, just outside Blaine, WA and there was the heron - looking for dinner at the mouth of the slough - the sun was just beginning to set and the colors were amazing.

Beautiful photos of that heron JoAnn. We have grey herons on our beck - and recently also a Little Egret - so exciting to see.

That guy really was showing off his plumage. We sometimes get ring-necked ducks among the winter visitors.

What beautiful photos of that great blue on the golden waters! It's hard to get good photos when the sun is so bright but I hope it peeks out for you today! Happy Sunday my sweet friend, Diane

Not only is the lighting you captured so unique, but so many of your bird captures make me reflect on how God individually created so many species - each with their own beauty and grace. These birds just strut along, full of their own realization that they are important. People could learn from them!

Wow- you captured some gorgeous shots of the Heron and the golden water. It's been hard to catch the sun over here in Michigan too.

Beautiful birds and lovely colors in the background at sunset. That last pic reminds me of an Asian style painting - it would be gorgeous enlarged and transferred to a canvas for hanging JoAnn.
Hope life is good this weekend.

The water has taken on a shimmering bronze colour in your photos. The heron stands out so beautifully again it. You have no shortage of wildlife in your region!

These are beautiful photos. They are such beautiful birds. I've never gotten close to a heron and don't have a good zoom lens. Have a great week ahead.

As always your photos are wonderful...wish I had your talent when it comes to taking pictures, JoAnn. We do have blue herons around here and it's such a treat seeing them at the edge of a pasture pond.
I am not really a summer person, but I sure will be glad to see the sun out more than a couple days in a row.
Have a great week.

I am always fascinated by the blue herons and am excited when I see them here - although not in the backyard eating my frogs! They must fly south over winter, there's not that many that summer here by the lake. In Florida they're abundant like the one you're sharing and they make an interesting subject to photograph.
Thank you for linking to Mosaic Monday JoAnn - hope you see some sunny days!

Such fabulous photos of the herons. We have those here, but I have yet to get a picture. Haven't really tried though. I took a look at your dolls since you said in the comment that you left me that you were sewing for dolls. Oh my. The dolls are so cute. You and Diane have me talked into getting an 18 inch doll. My granddaugthers have the Gotz dolls that are so pretty, too. I am glad to see that other women play with dolls. We certainly do indulge our inner child. I love the little red shoes with the hearts on them. So cute. You have a lovely collection---or family. lol.
