Weekly Top Shot



 Two Mallard drakes and one hybrid - probably a Mallard and Hooded Merganser cross.  They often flock together in the ponds near our house.

This reminds me I haven't been by the park in a long time to see the ducks. I must remedy that.
A great catch getting them all together.

We see some interesting hybrids here that arrive in mixed flocks and many of them are mallard mixes. The mallards are resident and I sometimes think where the visitors are fed, they tend to stick around longer and overlap the breeding season

I don't think for a moment that the cross breed knows it is different - it is just as beautiful.
