I remember the first time I ever saw a hydrangea - I was 18 and had just arrived in Fort Worth, Texas from Alaska - Don and I got married there the next week. His dad was driving us around to help us find an apartment and I saw the biggest, bluest hydrangea.
Coming directly from Alaska I had no idea what it was, but I knew I loved it. Since then I've had hydrangeas in my yard, plus I've taken photos of them every chance I got. This summer I made sure to stop and take pictures of any hydrangeas that I saw.

Yes, I do have hydrangea JoAnn - I love them too. Whether they flower pink or blue depends upon the composition of the soil. Loved to hear about your being in Fort Worth too - we were there four or five years ago, so that triggered memories.
I could never grow these successfully in our gravel soil on a shaded lot, but I would love to dry them for year round use.

Yes, have several blue ones - love them so much and dry them for winter indoor arrangements.
Planted two new ones (small) yesterday in back garden - they were pots for indoor Easter decor, hoping they will love their new garden home!

Those are gorgeous photos. I don't have any hydrangeas in the garden here although I really like them. There's a large one in the garden of our seaside home though, they grown well in that area so I can enjoy it when I'm there. Hope you're having a lovely time visiting your grandson.
Hydrangeas seem to grow well in the Pacific Northwest. The ones you've shown here are gorgeous.
So very pretty Mum used to have them growing in her garden.
We have one and I have taken over care of my neighbor's too, In the park near my home there is a hydrangea festival every year. I am always amazed at the new varieties they have come up with.
I also appreciate the fact that they last a very long time. I even remember my grandmother having a winter bouquet on her stair landing, made of dried hydrangea flowers.
I do not have any growing and they are beautiful! Now I feel guilty since I live in Fort Worth. Guess I better find a place in my yard for them. How much light do they need?
