Mosaic Monday - Lighthouses

Join Mary at Little Red House to see more wonderful mosaics.

Living on the west coast we have lots of chances to see and photograph lighthouses - I love to think about the history - what has happened at the lighthouses, and who has lived there. One of my favorite things, besides taking photos of lighthouses, is to read journals of lighthouse keepers and their families.

These lighthouse, starting at the top right and going around clockwise, are 1. Yaquina Head at Newport, OR, 2. Trinidad, CA memorial lighthouse, 3. Heceta Head, OR , 4. a replica of a lighthouse at the harbor in Eureka, CA.,
5. Port Wilson light, Port Townsend, WA, and 6. a small lighthouse in my cousin's yard in Oregon.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you enjoyed the lighthouses. Where is your favorite lighthouse located?

Love the lighthouses, I would love to visit them all. My favorite is located on the Bolavir Peninsula in Texas.

Your lighthouses are wonderful! The first time I saw one was on a trip to PEI a few summers ago and we did see a few there.
If their walls could talk, I'm sure there would be interesting stories to hear.

I love to look at lighthouses. I use to live on St. Simons Island, Ga. They have a very old lighthouse in the village by the water. A few years ago I was at a charity function and bid on a water color of that very lighthouse. Now it hangs on a wall in my guest room. Reminds me of my childhood every time I see it.

I love lighthouses too. I especially like visiting the one George Washington had built in Montauk at the east end of Long Island. The coastline has receded so much in 200+ years, I do wonder what will happen to it. ::Jill

I've taken photos of the one in Pt. Townsend while at ArtFest. The others are gorgeous.

What is about lighthouses, they are so intriging! We are blessed with lots and lots of farm land and mountains, so it is fun enjoy a much different type of beautiful scenery.

Beautiful mosaic. I especially love the ones in Oregon and Washington, since I am originally from the PNW.
