Wednesday Wee Ones

I have a friend
Her name is Candy
She is as sweet as her name!

A while back she said she was sending me a package - with a few glasses in it

And they would be wrapped in a few pieces of fabric

Wellllllll - I told you she was sweet.
 Sweet as gingerbread and hearts
I separated the stacks of fabrics she sent - sorted them into matching/coordinating groups - get ready for some fabric fun!
 checks and plaids
dots and stars - these are vintage fabrics.  I used to buy the same fabrics in Calexico, CA  (right on the Mexican border) in the 1980s at the huge outdoor swap meet.  I made doll and bears clothes using these fabrics - and now I have the same fabrics to use for my current dolls - Little Women dresses?  Little House on the Prairie clothes?  So many possibilities - I feel rich!!
Ginghams - so many ideas for doll clothes!
Oh right - the pretty glasses.  I adore these pink swirl glasses - they will be featured in many table settings to come.
Candy also sent pretty florals and garden prints - summer aprons for the dolls?  Sunsuits?
And lovely woven plaids - Autumn is coming - I'd better get out the patterns - so many ideas.

I haven't sewn anything from these fabrics that Candy sent in this latest box - but she had sent me another box of fabrics about a month before  - and I've made some pretty dresses from some of them.  I've posted about the first box of fabrics - but let us review
These are some of the fabrics she had sent me.
And in that same box - these five patterns
And
A new doll - Kyla.
I told you Candy was sweet!!!!
Kyla loves her new sisters and brother - and they are all so happy to have her in the family.
The dresses are from some of the fabrics in the first box from Candy - I used the pattern in the lower right corner to make dresses - just different fabrics for each doll - most of the dress fabrics are from Candy
I've shared the dresses before but I know you want to see them again - I just love the combinations of fabrics

It is a happy time in the summer with fabrics and patterns - and pretty glasses - from Candy. (The paper doll fabric on the dress in the lower right corner came in yet another box from Candy) Thank you so much my dear!!!!

And visit Candy's doll blog this afternoon - she is one of the most creative people I know.

And speaking of creative - have a visit over at Diane's - she always has something new, clever and fun for us to explore with her many dollies and projects.

I love my doll friends!

  2. Dollie friends are the BEST! And you've shared wonderful fabric with me too. It's FUN! And oh how I love the sweet ginghams and those beautiful Fall colors. You'll have such fun making just the right outfit out of each of the designs. I wish I could make all of my dolls Little House on the Prairie outfits. I need to look through patterns...again! Enjoy your day! I'm off to visit Candy too! Dollie hugs, Diane

  3. My goodness you received a wonderful bundle of beautiful fabric. I sometimes wish I still sewed--sometimes. I used to sew but not doll clothes but little girl dresses although my first project was a cowboy shirt for my little brother many years ago. I envy you your fortitude.
    I do love fabric though.
I have small desert bowls that look very similar to you glasses.
    Enjoy your day.

  4. Wow, JoAnn, what a great friend. At first, I thought Candy was a new doll until I read further. You should adopt another little girl, dress her in all the pretty colors and name her Candy, after your friend! They are all so pretty and I know that you will put them to great use with your wonderful sewing skills. I have a set of wine glasses just like those, only down to about 2 now since some have broken..Have a wonderful week..xxoJudy

  5. My goodness lady - you sure do have the fixin's there to make some mighty fine Little Women dresses and some super sweet prairie dresses. I have a vision of young Miss Jo, Beth, Meg, and Amy March along with young Miss Laura, Mary and Carrie Ingalls showing up in one your posts coming up. I know you will have fun creating those lovely characters with you dolls. Enjoy dear friend.

    Hugs,
    Candy

  6. Oh, my dolls are sitting here on my husband's chair feeling very neglected. Since they are both vintage-style home-made dolls, they need some good vintage fabric clothing. Unfortunately, I have to make the patterns first.
I hope your dolls know how lucky and loved they are.

  7. How exciting to be surprised like this! At one point in my life - when my daughters were in college and didn't have much money for gifts - but wanted to surprise me anyway, I suggested they go to the fabric store and buy me a quarter yard of pretty quilting cloth. I looked forward to seeing what they chose and matching it up with what I already had!
I love how you assemble those small prints into the cutest clothes for your dollies!

  8. What a wonderful selection of fabrics! I definitely like the sound of 'Little House on the Prairie' dresses. The only dresses I ever made for my daughter were that kind of thing with a little white pinafore to go over the top. I can sew but have never enjoyed it. My 7 year old granddaughter has just started reading the first Laura Ingalls Wilder book.
