The Barn Collective

It is daffodil time in NW Washington.  Thousands of daffodil bulbs are grown for sale world wide and the fields are magical when in full bloom.  Yesterday was sunny and 62 - as we drove slowly by the fields of waving daffodils we could smell the sweet scent of the flowers.  Let's see barns and daffodils this week.
Behind this field of daffodils is a huge flock of overwintering Snow Geese (come back tomorrow for more about the  Snow Geese)
 Fields of white daffodils with
bright yellow centers
A once majestic small barn - daffodil field in front - daffodil fields behind

King Alfred daffodils
Daffodils - a farm - and Mt. Baker - perfection!!!!

  6. Of all my visits to Bainbridge Island to see my son and drooling over all of the gorgeous freshly cut flowers at PiKe Place, I never stopped to think about the fields of flowers that those flowers night well be coming from. These photos are gorgeous and the yellow gaffs in the field remind me of our drive in Colorado. Your photos are so pretty

  7. Are they grown for bulb production rather than cut flowers? Absolutely stunning. Would so love to see that.

  8. This is the only time the barns don't have my full attention...OMG, all those daffodils are just dazzling! I love the photo with the snow geese, too. We saw a flock on the fly last week...guess they were headed to Canada, maybe?
Thanks for sharing your fantastic photography skills, JoAnn.

  9. I should have guessed you would find barns surrounded by daffodil fields! I didn't have far to look to find barns surrounded by snow!

  10. There are a few fields of daffodils here, too, and what a glowing sight they are in full bloom. Daffodils, snow geese and barns together make a stunning photo.

  12. When I was growing up, we lived at the top of a steep hill. On one side was a low stone wall above a ravine.
The floor of the forest was covered in daffodils every spring and we called it "daffodil hill". Tulip bulbs peter out in a few years but daffodils just keep multiplying and repeating with no care at all.

The beautiful elms that lined the hill made it look like a cathedral. Though they gradually succumbed to Dutch Elm disease, the daffodils kept right on keeping on. The poem is never far from my mind this time of year.
