An unexpected sunny day is always a good chance to take pictures of Mt. Baker. This is the view from Skagit (sounds like gadget) Valley, about 20 miles south of us. We are getting a side view from here - with many of the peaks of Mt. Baker showing, We don't see all of those from Bellingham. The big round dome is Grant Peak - it is just one part of the entire mountain, with many nearby peaks named after other presidents, making up Mt. Baker.
Mt. Baker was wearing her lenticular cloud - just like a pretty Sunday hat.
The lenticular clouds are formed by the mountains own specific environment.
In the fields below Mt. Baker two Bald Eagles discussed the weather (frozen seasonal pond in a farm field), lunch (nearby ducks and Snow Geese) and just general items of interest to two Bald Eagles on a sunny afternoon.

This is just incredible. That view of the mountain? Breathtaking! And eagles chatting? Fun!

Sheila :-)
Gorgeous shots of Mt. Baker and the eagles. We saw the mountain in all her splendour earlier this week when we were on the mainland.
Lenticular clouds are a sign of turbulence. When we are flying, we give them a wide berth. That's a perfect example. - Margy
It such a gorgeous sight. I just have to walk down the street to the Bay to see Mt Baker, we often see it better on a misty day or right at sunrise.
Fuji wears that same hat but I didn't know the name. Te Japan Alps are much farther away but sometimes in the winter we can get a glimpse behind the edges of Fuji. The most likely birds to be discussing things here in Tokyo would be Jungle Crows.
How do you doo it!!! Splendid photo of those bald eagles - they are definitely holding a conversation. Also Mount Baker with her Sunday hat - brilliant.
Gorgeous views of Mt Baker. I like the lenticular cloud a cool sight hanging over the mountain. Love the eagles.. Great photos. Happy Sunday and have a great week ahead!
I'm jealous of the mountains AND the Bald Eagles. :))
Wow! Between Mt. Baker and the Bald Eagles, I'm speechless! Gorgeous Gorgeous!
Beautiful views of the mountain!
What beautiful photos. I've always heard that mountains make their own weather. The cloud is very neat. And I love the eagles! Happy Sunday my friend. Hugs, Diane
Beautiful, mountains and eagles on the same post. Thank you for sharing.
I think the one eagle is asking the other one how to spell LENTICULAR. The Birdland Sunday crossword, you know.

That is such a majestic mountain. We look for it each time we head west
Breathtaking!
You enjoy such dramatic scenery! Mt. Baker is stunning and I now know about lenticular clouds. Your notion of the mountain wearing a hat is a fun one and, of course, the eagles are incredible. Thank you for sharing your photos at ☀Sunlit Sunday.

It's amazing what you can do with that camera! The close up shot makes me feel like I am right there - ready to (foolishly!) ski right down!
Such a cute shot of the eagles - deep in conversation concerning the weather and what they'll have for lunch!
I always enjoy seeing Mt. Baker on my drive home on Highway 1 in BC. It looks so close.
Great photos and the the photo on your header is gorgeous. It was the annual eagle count in Squamish BC this weekend I think. Lots to photograph in one area.
Beautiful! I love our Olympics, but Mt. Baker is a real knockout of a mountain!
What bright and lovely shots of the mountain! I think you're right about the eagles, too!
Joanne, these are gorgeous photos of Mt. Baker! And the eagles! How awesome to be able to see both these sights. I hope you have a great week! Blessings. Pam
