Back to my own style - and some good pictures of birds
I've given it a few weeks, this linky thing - linking to other blogs that have lists of certain kinds of pictures. While I've enjoyed the other blogs and found some interesting ones to follow - it just isn't my style. I find I'm behind most of the time - or occasionally ahead and waiting for the linky list to be open - and it frustrates me. Some people are very good at it - me, not so much. I do appreciate all those who have followed the links and come to visit, I hope you will come back again and see what I've been up to.
So I go back to posting, hopefully, a photo or two a day of things that impress me, or photos that were hard to get, or just something pretty that I've seen. Today I wanted to concentrate on birds and blue - so here we go.
This is an old picture - taken in Trinidad, California about 20 years ago, with my old Pentax SLR (non digital). I loved that camera, but along came digital and I was ready to jump ship. But this still remains one of my favorite shots.
Trinidad is a tiny, touristy seaside town in very northern California - about 250 north of San Francisco (and many people think San Francisco is at the very top of California). There is a fabulous restaurant there, on a little dock where local fishing boats bring in their catch. You can watch the fish being unloaded while you eat, and on warm days you can sit out on the patio under an umbrella. We've eaten at that restaurant in the winter, when rain and wind beat against the roof and windows, in the summer when children raced up and down the small dock watching the boats come in.
After the boats are empty for the day, they must then be moored out in the bay, tied to marker buoys. There is a man with a skiff and a dog, and they go back and forth, shuttling the crews of the boat from their anchorage back to the dock and then again the next day, shuttling them back out to their boats for more fishing.
Seagulls often lined the railings of the dock, waiting to catch some tasty tidbit thrown out while the fish are being cleaned.
Back to Washington, and Birch Bay. These terns and seagulls were feasting on rock crabs and clams and suddenly took off - the white against the blue caught my eye and I was happy to capture them as they flew past.
And one of my favorite birds to photograph, the Great Blue Heron. This one was behind some boulders on Lummi Peninsula. The patterns in the water make a wonderful background.
And that's it - my style of posting and some of my favorite photos with blue and birds. What is your favorite thing to photograph - or to look at? I enjoy all your blogs and thank you for stopping by mine now and then.

Good Morning JoAnn Sweetie...
Oh wow, what a glorious share this beautiful Sunday morning. I love seeing the birds. They glide so beautifully, whether in the air or on the water. Your photos are so serene and tranquil. Thank you for taking me to a beautiful place called Trinidad, CA. I so enjoyed my flight in beauty.
Many hugs and much love, Sherry

I tried to come over to thank you for your share on 'Weekly Top Shot,' but the link (http://scenethroughmyeyes.blogspot.com/2012/03/at-last-hawk-picture.html) returns a 'Page Not Found.' I tried scrolling through, but couldn't find that shot, so sorry! If you email me (theviewfromrighthere@comcast.net) with the right permalink to your post, I'll correct your entry for you. I'm so glad you decided to join us and share at Weekly Top Shot :-) I hope you'll come share again next week...

I love the Blue Heron photo!! What magnificent birds!
Birds and water remain two of my favorite subjects as well. I really like the composition of the heron one, great capture! ~Lili
