Juncos are stocking up on some good food at the beginning of a snowstorm yesterday
No Hummingbird in sight - we bring in the feeder at night to keep it from freezing
Even in the snow you can see the leaves sprouting on the Oso Berry bush - they are the very first plants to leaf out in the spring - maybe a bit too early this year, but they are tough - they'll survive a bit of snow.
There were dozens of Juncos flitting about
And just the day before, there appeared a Varied Thrush (relative of the American Robin) on the neighbor's roof. I've rarely seen one in the winter here.
That Varied Thrush is a pretty colour!
ReplyDeleteHello JoAnn, it is great to watch the birds at the feeders during a snow storm. Your Juncos are prettier than the Juncos I see here. The Varied Thrush is a beautiful colorful bird. It is wonderful to see the plants starting to show the leaves. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. I also appreciate your comment and visit. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow refreshing to see the color of the Varied Thrush! I wonder what it is about a snowfall/storm that brings out the juncos? I have always assumed that their normal sources are a little more difficult to access, so they are drawn to the feeders! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Especially that colorful Thrush! I hope you have a more Spring like day today! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful junco photos! Loved seeing that Varied Thrush as he is new for me. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteBrrrr! That thrush is wondering where he will find worms on a snowy day.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful thrush. A new bird for me. Love seeing those leaves sprouting!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm. I'm jealous. I've NEVER seen the varied thrush in Winter or any season for that matter. So dapper...and sassy.
ReplyDeleteLove it (your post)...& thanks for linking in at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week!
Haven't seen any Juncos yet, maybe they will be there when we get home to the cabin this week. - Margy
