One of our favorite islands to visit is Guemes Island, just a few minute's ferry ride away from Anacortes. It is not on the Washington State Ferry route. The ferry is funded and maintained by the island. We go several times a year to enjoy the beautiful scenery. This year we searched for barns - and found some lovely ones.
A small red barn, probably used for storage - perhaps supplies for horses.
A large working farm on the island. Not many of those left now.
This one is being converted into a home
Hiding back in the woods, another working farm
And I must share my favorite house on the island. Everything is painted the same color of red - house, window frames, doors. It sits in a neatly mowed lawn and is simply majestic.
A small wooden barn with trim to match the house, sits nearby.
And even the little garden shed gets a touch of the red paint from the house. A wonderful visit to a great island.

They didn't want to waste any left-over paint!
Nice pictures.
Nice barns, and I love the red house!
Have a wonderful day!
What a lovely island to visit and enjoy the scenery and barns. Oh yes, that red painted house is a glorious sight. It sits in it's setting rather beautifully, doesn't it. I rather love the sweet little barn in the first photo. I think that would make a sweet little (very little) house.
A converted barn is my dream home. I do like the red house painted all one color. Something I wouldn't have thought of, but turned out great.
Hello, great finds. I love the red house and the barn with the red trim. It is so pretty Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
...JoAnn, another wonderful barn collection. The red house looks like it belongs in New England. Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you can do it again.
Beautiful barns!
That all red house is rather calming with its lack of decoration on building or in yard!
That red house is just perfect!
Had to look up where that island is.
Wow. Your favorite caught my eye, too! It has such a New England vibe - so serene and elegant. I wonder if it has been converted to a house? I love the shade of red, too! Perfect!
I think I might have to agree with you on the favorite house...without even seeing the others.
I'm in total agreement on your favorite house. It's a real beauty.
It was a nice area to have a peaceful stay:)
LOVE the red house! And how cool is it that one of the barns is being turned into a home!
