Saturday's Critters

The Red Tail Hawks are returning from their summer habitat.  Some are here year round, but there are many more in the fall and winter.
 Atop a power pole

And just down the road - another on a power pole - holding one foot up
This big black horse was enjoying a good roll-around in the grass
 And came up very dusty!!

  4. A dust bath is already good whether it's a horse, dog or bird!
We have lots of red tail hawks in our area...it isn't uncommon to drive 50 miles southwest and see a hundred of them. We also have bald eagles nearby, but I have only seen one in the almost 14 years I have lived here.

  9. That third hawk picture is especially nice. We don't have as many red tails here as we do harriers, and the harriers are year round.

  11. I haven't noticed winter visitors yet . Most of our guests are water birds. I love that giant dust bunny.
