This time of the year all the crops - and weeds - have grown so much that often the barns are hidden
This old barn is partly hidden by the tall grasses - and Elderberry bushes
Raspberry fields grow about 6 feet tall
There are even blackberry vines beginning to climb up the walls of the barn - once that starts it isn't long until the barn is overcome with the vines
Weeds, a wheat field and finally blackberry bushes try and hide this barn
More raspberry bushes in front of a nice red barn
The blackberries, elderberry bushes and some wild shrubs are taking care of this barn, with spent Fireweed on the right side.
Potatoes fields and then the taller corn. It looks to me like the barn is opening its mouth to eat the corn
A nice farm shed/barn in a hay field
This barn is just a shell now - and it too has potato fields and corn in front of it
Just weeds, this is canary grass, which often is taller than the roof of our car
Wheat in the foreground - raspberries in the background, in front of a well kept, working barn
Good morning, wonderful barn collection. There must be a lot of raspberries and blackberries there for picking. Have a happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at a picture of an old barn from our travels last year and thinking of all the old barns that you find on your drives. I always wish I could go in and explore.
ReplyDeleteSome of those barns are trying very hard to get hidden aren't they! xx
ReplyDeleteLove that they are peeking over crops. Ties it all together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of old barns...love the very first one. The wheat looks like it is ready to cut!
ReplyDeleteoh, gee, another good crop of barns! I love each one for something different. And I must say that I really, really love the one in the hayfield...love that big sloping roof.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection JoAnn. The first one is a favorite, plus the barn in the hay field is so different than the barns in this area. Quite special. Thanks for linking up this week and I hope that you will return again. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeletePeek-a-boo barns! I love your comment that the barn looks like It's opening its mouth to eat the corn. It truly does!
ReplyDeleteI love that raspberries grow so well around here. I went to our local u-pick farm last week and came home with over 7 lbs. Perfect, ripe, and wonderful...and only $2 a pound. I paid more than that for a pint of hit-and-miss/maybe okay berries in California.
Wow, JoAnn! So many great barns in very nice settings.
ReplyDeleteWhenever you present a barn collective, I love to imagine myself living when they were in their prime. The books I read as a child always described kids sitting in a hay loft, or playing among free range chickens. There were horses to ride and berries to pick and eat on the spot. What a life! Your pictures bring that experience into clear focus!
ReplyDeleteAll those berries sound wonderful! (Gotta love the berry-filled summer!) and I loved your barns as well! I just added a link to Barn Collective on my Through My Lens post because Tom reminded me that I posted a barn! If you haven't seen it, stop by.
ReplyDeleteLove the barn shots. I've never seen so many raspberry bushes. Sounds like it should be jamming. ;o)
