One of my all time favorite bushes - Kolkwitzia - but I've always known it as Beauty Bush
If you sit under the Beauty Bush you can hear the serenade of the bees - they love it - I happened to be lucky enough to catch that bee on the lower right side before it flew off to another flower. We had a Beauty Bush in our yard in California.
I don't know what this next tree is - but it sure is pretty. It is next to the building where I go for Physical Therapy. It is just coming into bloom - I want to get more photos of it when it is in full bloom.
Anyone know what this is? I'd appreciate some help. It is a tree and is about 10 feet high - at least.
Oh yes, I bet the bees love both of those gorgeous flowering trees/shrubs! Reminds me of that poetic phrase about a "bee-loud glade." Not sure where that's from. Shakespeare, maybe?
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a huge beauty bush in my family's old home too ... this is a lovely specimen! The other looks like quince, but am not sure it grows into a tree.
ReplyDeleteWendy
That's a gorgeous tree and not one I'm familiar with.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I was out in the garden and I could hear the buzz of bees about their business. Such an encouraging sound, full of life and promise.
The beauty bush is new to me, it is lovely..Beautiful blooms and color.. Lovely images! Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI love the gorgeous burst of spring that is your new header! Lovely flowers - especially the ones hosting the busy bee. I am not a gardener and also not familiar with specific names of flowering shrubs and trees. I just enjoy looking at them all!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mosaics and blooms! I love the sound of bees buzzing happily around.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe shrubs and trees with pink flowers signal "spring is here". I hope somebody will recognize the beautiful tree!
Have a lovely week!
Love all that pink, frothy goodness JoAnn! So lovely. I have a feeling that second pinkie is an apple of some sort, it has apple leaves...maybe a crab apple...it also has that distinct ball type apple bud.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo!
ReplyDeleteHave never seen nor heard of a Beauty Bush either, but it is gorgeous.
:) m & jb who is quite fond of cattails
Such beautiful blossoms!!! You really cannot get better can you! xx
ReplyDeleteI can see why you like the beauty bush JoAnn, similar to a bridal wreath spirea only in pink. Not sure what the other blooms are as we likely grow different shrubs/trees in our areas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
Gorgeous flower shots.
ReplyDeleteThat Beauty bush is beautiful beyond words! It really is a treat to hear honey bees buzzing from flower to flower.
ReplyDeleteNo idea what the mystery tree is, maybe some type of crab apple or apple?
Hi JoAnn, you really find the most beautiful flowering trees and bushes. Is the first bush also known as wigelea? From a distance it looks like one my mom had years ago, but can't remember the close up version. I'm sorry I don't know the other tree either, but it sure is a beauty. Really such pretty photos..Happy Monday..Judy
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning tree....I love how chock full of blossoms it gets...
ReplyDeleteTwo super gorgeous trees! I don't know that I'm familiar with either of them. I did wonder if the second one was some sort of fruit but it's so chock full of blossoms I couldn't imagine what. Crab apple makes sense. I hope you'll revisit it with your camera and perhaps solve the mystery!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty bush sure lives up to its name! It is really gorgeous and so is the other one but I don't know what it is. Beautiful mosaics!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty bush is perfectly named. I wonder if they would survive the cold winters in Northern Ohio. The other tree/bush does look like it might be a crab apple. Both are beautiful. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteI thought it might be a crab apple, too! They are both so beautiful and have so many blooms! Flowers always make the prettiest mosaics! Enjoy your evening! I'm having trouble with my emails so if you get them more than once...you'll know it's crazy! lol Sweet hugs, Diane
