Heavy rain was forecast for Saturday - but the rain stopped at about 10 a.m. and the sun came out - so off we went - to explore areas that we might take our son and his family to for adventures when they come for two weeks in July.
Everywhere we went, the lilacs were blooming - scenting the world
Many colors
Some we had never seen before
All glorious

Oh so many lovely lilacs. I like them so much, wish I had more. And very pretty mosaics too.
ReplyDeleteYou found a gorgeous selection! And it looks as if yours are ahead of ours. Most I've seen so far haven't burst into full bloom.
ReplyDeleteI adore lilacs and I can't grow them here. So pretty and so many different colors ... too bad we don't have smell-a-picture! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's way too early for lilacs here, but I have a special fondness for them because of how they remind me of my maternal grandma. She had several bushes, and because she lived in back of us, we were always over there - cutting down branches to take home to place in front of mother's Blessed Virgin statue. I guess just the memory of the intoxicating scent in combination with the start of spring and grandma's ever present generosity is what makes me feel so sentimental about these lovely blossoms!
ReplyDeleteOh my I adore lilac time...the sweet scent is intoxicating as are the blooms.
ReplyDeleteWe wre checking out the maple syrup tour here for taking our grandson next year! But as for lilacs, not til June here.
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning with all the colours you found, and the best fragrance to inhale in spring. My lilacs are just starting to have swelling buds and there will be flowers in late May.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Mosaic Monday JoAnn.
Your lilacs are out already???? The bushes are even budding their leaves here yet. We won't have lilacs until late May/early June. I'm envious!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable - so many beautiful lilacs, I swear I can smell the perfume from here!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy - Mary x
There are very few lilacs here in Tokyo. I wonder why. Maybe the soil is wrong. There was one planted in the garden of the last place we rented but even with plenty of TLC, it had fewer and fewer flowers each year and finally died. Roses in planters survive but garden roses do poorly too.
ReplyDeleteI love the lilac, beautiful colors and images.. Pretty mosaics! Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...your photos of these lilacs are just breathtaking...I can almost smell them! We had a lovely lilac bush when I was a little girl and I remember my mom cutting bouquets for the kitchen table! They made the house smell SO good!
ReplyDeleteThey have such full blooms and they are so fragrant. I know the honey bees and butterflies love them! Enjoy your week my friend. Hope you have nice weather now too! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful blooms and mosaics! And have I mentioned that your Header is fabulous!!??!!
ReplyDeleteYou said it, all beautiful! - Margy
