Saturday's Critters

I have been out with a big winter cold for this week and so thought I would share a post from a few years back - hope you enjoy it.

In the PNW you see a lot of chain saw wood carving - in yards, for sale along the roads, in towns - it is everywhere.
These bears look friendly enough, maybe they want to share your picnic.
And eagle in the woods
Two bears trying to climb up  to visit the Bald Eagle
The chain saw artists are quite talented

Then last weekend we were traveling a new road and found a place that sells chain saw carvings.
A nice brown bear
Joined by his friends, the giraffes
The Giraffes?  Did we drive too far?
A horse
And a very old bear
Please won't someone take me home - I've been here a very long time.

  4. Oh! There are many "flu-like illnesses" going around. In a way, they are as bad as the flu, but even worse because docs don't prescribe Tamiflu for them. I hope you are feeling better, dear Jo.

  7. Hope you shake that cold, JoAnn. Awesome art...but I sure don't have room for some of those huge bears or giraffes!

  8. You have some great finds here, particularly the "bench bears" and the bears climbing the tree. I wouldn't mind finding a place at my house for the old bear. My husband was called "Bear" for years before I met him.

  9. We have some amazing chainsaw artists here in Powell River. They perform at our annual Sea Fair. I went to Hope, BC. They used to have a major competition there, and the art throughout the town is amazing. Sorry to say, it stopped a few years back. - Margy
