Weekly Top Shot

Two Mallard drakes and one hybrid - probably a Mallard and Hooded Merganser cross.  They often flock together in the ponds near our house.

  1. This reminds me I haven't been by the park in a long time to see the ducks. I must remedy that.
A great catch getting them all together.

  2. Awww! I hope the drakes aren't "gossiping" about the hybrid because it sure looks like that!

  4. We see some interesting hybrids here that arrive in mixed flocks and many of them are mallard mixes. The mallards are resident and I sometimes think where the visitors are fed, they tend to stick around longer and overlap the breeding season

  5. I don't think for a moment that the cross breed knows it is different - it is just as beautiful.
