I too, am fascinated by trees - so this challenge is going to be fun. October is a great month to get photos of trees in all stages.
Trees starting to lose their leaves - in an autumn sunrise.
A stump of a tree - can you see the face peeking out from under the mossy hair?
The woods at Silver Lake County Park. The cedars tower over the Big Leaf Maple (foreground with leaves bigger than dinner plates) and the last golden leaves of the Vine Maple - which look like stars sprinkled in the woods
I love how the Big Leaf Maples drop their leaves in the woods and they catch on the evergreens.
One big beautiful maple tree in town
And a fallen tree - becoming host to mushrooms on the forest floor
The fairies will hold their picnic and dance here tonight
The bright red leaves of the snowball bush on my deck. Trees are everywhere.
The mushroom, woods and stump photos were taken with my new Nikon CoolPix P600 - the others with my old Canon PowerShot SX30IS, before it decided to take a permanent vacation. All photos are straight out of the camera.
Personal Photo Challenge
What great pictures. It's impossible for me to pick a favorite, but yes, I did see the face in the moss before reading your comment.
ReplyDeleteGreat tree shots, JoAnn - your scenes look very much like ours at present, although the wind yesterday blew a lot of leaves onto the ground.
ReplyDeleteLove the little mushrooms on the tree trunks.
I did see that face! These are all such lovely tree photos!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty - I like each one the same. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI had a Nikon Coolpix a while ago, obsolete now, but it was the best point and shoot I ever had. Your photos are wonderful! I love the facey stump
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad that someone else tried a silhouette with a sunrise or sunset! Beautiful! Love the old stump and YES I see the face. Too funny. These are all lovely, and I think my favorite is the one with the maple leaves hanging in the fir branches. Wonderful texture and color contrast.
ReplyDeleteI love the stump with the face hidden in the bark and moss! You've shared some wonderful photos for the challenge! I hope you're still enjoying some pretty color! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI do like the effect of the vine maple as it makes the woods appear to be sprinkled with stars...or fairy dust.
ReplyDeleteWe're all going to be looking for faces in trees from now on. :-)
Lovely photos, JoAnn! That pink and blue sky was amazing! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful...I think that my favorite is Mr. Mossy Hair! :)

Your photos are just so fascinating! What an imagination!
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice, but I did see that gnarled face! Your forests look a lot like ours.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the photo challenge,,,,I love all the red colors and have not heard of a snowball bush before.
ReplyDeleteBefore you mentioned fairies, I could see them inhabiting the mossy stump!
ReplyDeleteYour 4th picture - my goodness! So beautiful. It could be a painting. I imagine it must be magical to be among leaves as large as dinner plates! It would make me feel like I was the fairy!
Gorgeous photos, I can't decide if I like stump-face or the leaves as big as dinner plates the bestl Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI want to make my Nikon coolpix P7700 behave like yours.
ReplyDeleteI do love the tree pictures and remember some wonderful moss in the rain forest long ago.
Wonderful photos all! Love the pink sky silhouette and the beautiful yellow/red maple. And those darling little mushrooms - can just imagine the fairies sheltering under them in a rain...
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, My favorite picture is the one with the maple leaves on the pine trees. It has a light feathery feel to it. Sylvia
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful shots. You've caught a great variety of lovely ones. I do love that maple tree!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! I love your "hairy" stump. I can just see the fairies flitting among the ferns. Great shots. Thanks for sharing!
