There are photographers here in Tokyo who specialize in Kingfisher photography ... even going to building blinds and luring them with small bait fish. Our "common" kingfisher looks like a flying jewel. Nothing common at all!
I love them - have seen very colorful ones in Africa but this belted one is handsome - your know I love neutrals, haha! I wonder if they sing - can't recall hearing them make much sound and, as you say, they are fast moving and really hard to photograph. Great shots JoAnn.
