As we were driving home the other night - we saw a lot of employees of Kentucky Fried Chicken standing out on the sidewalk - large buckets of chicken (?) in their hands. We stopped for a minute to see what they were doing. Well - it certainly wasn't chicken in those buckets.
It was the Ice Bucket Challenge - fill a bucket with ice water - pour it on yourself and then challenge others to do the same. One young lady gave a speech about their challenge - to another of their companies - and that the local KFC was donating 100.00 per bucket to ALS research. Donations have gone from 3.5 M to 70.2M simply because of the Ice Bucket Challenge. It is astonishing how fast this has happened - and the funds go to research.
This took place in a shopping center and cars were stopped everywhere to watch and cheer on the Ice Bucket Brigade.
Cool capture of the KFC ice bucket challange.. I seen many video of this challenge for ALS lately..
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
It's happening everywhere! There has been criticism, but I think it's wonderful how it's brought attention to ALS research.
ReplyDeleteThe Ice Bucket Challenge is fun and entertaining -- and wow, over $70 million raised to date! Who can criticize that kind of success?
ReplyDeleteYes, that ice bucket challenge seems to be spreading over here in the UK too.
ReplyDeleteThis ice bucket challenge is taking the country by storm. I understand that it started in New Zealand. But, all it took was one person with an idea and let social media take over. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing it on CNN but this is a blogging first. If it helps in ALS research, it is a great idea.
