Driving along in Skagit County (for those not from this area - is it pronounced like gadget) - something the newscasters around the country should have been told when the bridge on I-5 collapsed into the river last month). Any way - driving along I spotted something in a new mown hay field. A spot - maybe a bird?
It was a bird - let's look closer
Oh a very pretty Perigrine Falcon
Ruffling his feathers
Grooming - the feathers are gorgeous
Look up - way up - on top of that telephone pole
A Bald Eagle - he is watching the falcon too
Falcon doesn't care - has to preen those pretty feathers - look out falcon!
Don't warn him - I'd like to invite him to lunch
Look out eagle - falcon doesn't like being invited to BE lunch
Go away eagle!!!!
Eagle went away - hiding in the tree - middle right - that dark spot in the tree.
Eagle is big - Falcon is fast - he can fly up to 242 mph - now that's fast - and Eagle is hiding from that.
Falcon 1 - Eagle 0

Wow! Wonderful shots of the eagle and falcon!
ReplyDeleteAmazing captures and facts, too...as in I did not know that about falcons! :)
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing shots. I didn't know a falcon could fly that fast. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow, JoAnn! Incredible photos! I've never seen a Peregrine Falcon resting like that, how interesting. He must have just enjoyed some 'lunch'. To see the Eagle and the Falcon together is great. Now that is fast flying! Wouldn't want to be slammed by that! The Eagle is smart to hide! xoxo
