Scenic weekend

This is Tulip Time in our area - tulips everywhere - along the streets, in yards, in the tulip farm fields, by businesses, surrounding schools - everywhere.  See my post about the commercial fields of tulips HERE, if you missed it the first time.

While viewing the massive fields of tulips in Skagit County, we came upon this small patch, across the street from a farm house.  My guess is that they grow these to pick and sell to local grocery stores and florists.  They are quite different from the commercially grown tulips.

Some light pink ones, with stripes in them.

Some fancy red ones

Darker pink

Such loveliness

Driving around up near Birch Bay, we spotted a lovely planting of tulips and daffodils out in the country,  in front of  a business that has changed hands many times - and never very successfully.  It has been a Duty Free shop near the Canadian border, a liquor store, a book store, a second hand store - and now again a used book store.  Not very popular, or near town, it sits alone in its shabby building, but the flowers - oh the flowers.

 Pretty orange tulips

Someone had done a fine job of tending the flower garden

Tulips of all kinds

Ahhh spring!

  2. The vibrant range of colour in tulips is amazing! Your photos show just what a great range there can be! The old store near the border clearly has some beautiful examples!

  5. Oh, so lovely! Almost feels like I'm there! We have a couple of tulip fields in this area, but they're tucked back off the road, and we have to PAY to go and see them!
