At Birch Bay we often see crows - but they are usually up and away before I can get a picture of them. This one was intent on hunting for something - softshell crabs?
The weather was sunny and bright - sunlight reflecting on the water - a good day for a hunt.
Going in
Looking
Maybe under here . . .
Or here. . .
Oh look - a pretty crow in the water. . .
Guess my work here is done. . .
Bye . . .
All that work - time for a nap on a log.

Nice birdie story!! Love the color in the photos.
Cool...Birds are so fun to watch. My Catch: http://lore-eleven.blogspot.com/2013/04/catching-light.html
I wonder if there was any lunch after all that hunting.
I am very fond of all of the crow family - particularly rooks - we have a rookery of around forty thousand rooks about a mile from where we live. We see them at first light going off to their feeding grounds and again in the evening as the sun is setting, when they take about half an hour to fly over back to their roost for the night.
We also have a carrion crow who nests every year in a tree close to our farm. Before the leaves come on to the trees his nest is clearly visible, but he doesn't seem to mind at all.
Hm, did it really find some lunch? Of was all the work in vain?
Nice caught :)
All the best :)
Did he ever find anything other than a pretty crow in the water? I like the last one of him napping on the log.
As I scrolled down the page I recognized the same little habits I see as they scrounge around the field between me and my neighbor.
Noisy things and they do not get along with hawks - always torturing them.:)
A lovely little pictoral!
Great Photos :0) It always amazes me how many crows there are out there. I will see only 2 or 3 every year here.
Crispy
Beautiful photos of the crow in the water.
oh I just chuckled through this one / pretty, funny, and cute! :)
Great shots! Love the second one, he looks like he is admiring his reflection!
Really entertaining for you. LOve the shots with the reflections and that it was comfortable enough to have a rest with you around.
I love your narration, it make me smile.
Love the running commentary! I wonder how close you are to the truth :)
Wonderful series. Love it.

Gosh JoAnn, that's a beauty. I love crows to pieces. You've done a fantastic job of photographing this fellow. :)
Crows are always worth watching - they are just to smart to be dull!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

Love these photos! Like a pictorial diary of a day in the life of a crow! Fascinating!
