Catching the Light - Crow

At Birch Bay we often see crows - but they are usually up and away before I can get a picture of them. This one was intent on hunting for something - softshell crabs?

The weather was sunny and bright - sunlight reflecting on the water - a good day for a hunt.

 Going in
 Looking

 Maybe under here  .  .  .

 Or here.  .  .

Oh look - a pretty crow in the water.  .  .

Guess my work here is done.  .  .

 Bye .  .  .
All that work - time for a nap on a log.

  4. I am very fond of all of the crow family - particularly rooks - we have a rookery of around forty thousand rooks about a mile from where we live. We see them at first light going off to their feeding grounds and again in the evening as the sun is setting, when they take about half an hour to fly over back to their roost for the night.
We also have a carrion crow who nests every year in a tree close to our farm. Before the leaves come on to the trees his nest is clearly visible, but he doesn't seem to mind at all.

  6. Did he ever find anything other than a pretty crow in the water? I like the last one of him napping on the log.

  7. As I scrolled down the page I recognized the same little habits I see as they scrounge around the field between me and my neighbor.
Noisy things and they do not get along with hawks - always torturing them.:)
    A lovely little pictoral!

  8. Great Photos :0) It always amazes me how many crows there are out there. I will see only 2 or 3 every year here.
