Outdoor Wednesday
We came upon this Great Blue Heron one day while wandering down some side roads. We drove quietly up to him and I took all these photos from the car window. I thought getting out of the car would frighten him away. At once point I was so entranced with getting the photos that I had to remind myself to breath. It was a wonderful day!!!

I love the Great blues. There is a rookery not too far from where I live -- my favorite time is when the babies are all in the pond by the side of the road --
OH! I love these birds! Great shots
Many Blessings, Marsha
They are amazing birds. We used to know someone that feed an injured one in her backyard for years. She caught him fish!

Oh, he is absolutely beautiful. I have been lucky enough to see one while vacationing in northern Minnesota. So breathtaking!
Happy Outdoor Wednesday and Blessings to you from Kansas,
Valerie
Wow.. Awesome job getting those shots without spooking him. He's beautiful.

How wonderful!! I love Blue Herons too.
Amazing photographs of a Blue Heron. Quite a little "ham". Usually they fly away, showing my husband and me their large wingspan. We hear the sound of whoosh and then the Blue Heron is gone on its merry way to feed somewhere else quietly. A little boy we took fishing with us once when told it was a Blue Heron he said, "It is not blue, it is grey." Truth is always told by the young.

The Heron is such a spectacular bird. I happened on one taking a drink at the park a block from my house. I slammed on the brakes so fast! It wasn't a site I normally see. Your photos are great!

I see these in Florida, where I live. Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous photos! We often have them in our pond, but I can never get close enough for pics without them getting spooked and flying away.
How beautiful! You have some great shots!

How fortunate to get those shots! They are so graceful.
We have white Heron's here. Don't know that I have ever seen a Blue.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday Jo! Sorry I haven't been around as much lately..... I haven't felt good. Thanks for sharing your photos.~ Susan
We have a lot of Heron's here. They are mostly sitting besides fishing man waiting for a caught fish. Clever birds I think.
