Outdoor Wednesday
We came upon this Great Blue Heron one day while wandering down some side roads. We drove quietly up to him and I took all these photos from the car window. I thought getting out of the car would frighten him away. At once point I was so entranced with getting the photos that I had to remind myself to breath. It was a wonderful day!!!
Something jumped, and he didn't even blink an eye . . .

I love the Great blues. There is a rookery not too far from where I live -- my favorite time is when the babies are all in the pond by the side of the road --
Amazing photographs of a Blue Heron. Quite a little "ham". Usually they fly away, showing my husband and me their large wingspan. We hear the sound of whoosh and then the Blue Heron is gone on its merry way to feed somewhere else quietly. A little boy we took fishing with us once when told it was a Blue Heron he said, "It is not blue, it is grey." Truth is always told by the young. Joyce
The Heron is such a spectacular bird. I happened on one taking a drink at the park a block from my house. I slammed on the brakes so fast! It wasn't a site I normally see. Your photos are great!

ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of Heron's here. They are mostly sitting besides fishing man waiting for a caught fish. Clever birds I think.
