Mosaic Monday Whatcom Falls - Then and Now

Let's looks at Whatcom Falls - a city park in Bellingham - it flows from Lake Whatcom (where our city water comes from) to the ocean.  The dates are under the photos.
This collage is the most recent photos of Whatcom Falls, taken in July of 2015 - just a month ago
This is what it looked like when we moved to Washington in 2001, this is spring of 2002

The bridge was covered in thick green moss - today it is barren
2015 - July - it is a mere trickle compared to past years.

The Barn Collective - Wisconsin, Part One

Let's go to Wisconsin for some old barns.  We went back to Wisconsin for Don's 50th High School reunion, and took a few days to explore the countryside.
We saw a few barns with quilts painted on them - and a cement silo

A corn field in front of a barn with a painted quilt

We also saw silos built with local stones - gathered from the fields
A very good job of fitting the stones together into the round shape of the silo
 And a shingled roof
The roof is gone on this silo after all the years in the harsh winters of Wisconsin

A stone shed on the same farm
And a stone foundation, the barn is long gone
Next week - part two of Wisconsin barns

Saturday's Critters

Usually my critters are birds - today we get to see horses.
We came upon this field of horses on one of our rides in the country.  The wide board fence was so high that I had to bend down and take photos between the boards.

I love all the different sizes and colors

Wednesday Wee Ones

Another week - another outfit.  This time I got to choose the fabric - and I picked an orange orange stripe.  I'd been thinking about it for a bit and here is what I did.
I'm Sally Jo - and I'm ready for summer in my new orange overalls
They have pretty orange buttons and a pocket
My goodness, it is windy today
That's better - sometimes it is hard to keep my hair tidy
Let's build a stone cairn - I have just the stones for it
 Careful now
 One last stone
The top stone is an unpolished agate

 I am taking a rest
 And built another stone cairn
Ohhmmmmm

I got a new headband - that is going to help with the windy days.

It's been a nice day - thanks for stopping by - have you ever built a Stone Cairn?  It takes a steady hand.

Do stop by and see Diane and Sheila - they have sewn some very nice clothes.

Mosaic Monday

I thought today would be a good day to share some mosaics from summers past and present
Irises are a great way to start summer
Wild Celery is abundant along the road sides
And Shirley Poppies are so sweet
Fields of Allium waving in the breeze
Wild Honeysuckle lines many banks along the roads
 Cattails by a small pond
 The wonderful scent of roses
Foxgloves grow everywhere - along the roads, on hillsides, in fields
Hollyhocks by a sweet seaside cottage
Mullein is one of my favorite wild flowers
I know these are not flowers  -  but I love this collage
And of course no summer is complete without poppies
Hydrangeas are in so many yards in town

 Rose gardens
 Summer flowers are grand!
