More Signs of Spring

Even though we are having cool weather - and rain showers - spring is arriving, creeping in here and there - and our town is beginning to show off its colors.  Pink is the main color - with daffodil yellow close behind.  

These pink trees are planted along many streets, in yards and even in shopping centers here.  They are beginning to open and soon the whole town will be dancing in pink 

There are double flowering and single flowering trees - all over town 

White flowering trees are starting to bloom too - light as clouds 

Pussy Willows have been budding for a while now - but I still find trees full of the fuzzy catkins 

  

Forsythia is seen on almost every street - some in hedges - some single bushes - all sunny and bright 

A few Forget-me-nots in a warm corner of a yard

Daffodils everywhere!  

All colors and sizes

In bouquets 

Even in the meridians in the freeways

It's a daffodil spring! 

The skunk cabbage is popping up in the swampy areas 

For all to enjoy! 

A few azaleas are beginning to bloom 

And the heather is in full swing - a little later than usual 

I saw the first Tulip Tree with buds almost open today - and yes, I shall always insist on calling it a Tulip Tree - it is such a pretty name for such a pretty tree. 

Pansies overwinter here - and are blooming even in the cool weather 

Yes indeed - spring is definitely here - my pansies are ready to plant - I had very few that overwintered so I have to start fresh this spring.  I can't wait to get started.

Signs of Spring - In The House!

It is still coolish here - a little rain now and then and a little sun now and then.  Nothing much going on in the garden yet - but some springtime in the house.  I love all the bunnies and eggs and pretty flowers for spring decorating.

And a teeny tiny cup with wooden eggs - they look so much like real chocolate eggs that I want a chocolate egg whenever I see these wooden ones.

And a little butterfly handle - it is the perfect teacup for a fairy tea

I found this bunny pulling a wagon months ago and have been waiting for spring to get him out.

He's sitting on the china cabinet with the milk glass

A bunny family, waiting for a basket so they can set up their home for spring

With a cute little gilr bunny and her big floppy ears

Male Mallard in a puddle in a horse pasture.  We have a lot of  waterfowl in this area - the most abundant seems to be the Mallards.  They migrate here in mid to late winter and have begun making their nests.

I Did It!

Today on the way to the grocery store we saw a fruit stand open - not much fruit - some oranges, apples and bananas - but in the area in front they had flowers - oh so many flowers - and I came away with a flat of them.  I'll get some spring going in my yard now!!! 

Who can resist these pretty little flowers in the spring?

So many colors to choose from 

Sweet pansies for spring.  I'll plant them on Monday or Tuesday - they say one of those days it should be 63 degrees - can you believe that?  Me neither! 

And they had sweet peas too - look how many in this one little 4" x 4" pot - for just 1.69

And a pot of some sweet peas a little farther along.  These may have to live in the house in a warm window for a while yet - but the pansies can take the  coolish weather that we have in early spring.

At last - spring flowers!!!
