Shorebirds

Now let's look at some shore birds.  These are Dunlins, with a couple of Pintail Ducks mixed in.
The shorebirds fly inland and spend time feasting in the farm fields that are flooded when we have massive amounts of rain.

And Lesser Yellow legs find something to eat here too.
Shorebirds are my favorite kind of birds.  What is your favorite bird?

  1. My favorite bird is an owl, and with more and more high rises being built in the area, they are becoming fewer and fewer. I'm so glad to see this post because I have been thinking about you every day. M dolls have been asking for you too.

  3. A 2.5 hr. drive east gets us to the shore and I love all the birds on the beach, especially the pelicans flying in long lines just inches above the ocean looking for fish.

Back here we have a huge choice of garden birds to watch and enjoy - love all, but my favorites are Carolina wrens, Black-capped chickadees, Eastern bluebirds, Northern cardinals. . . . . . . well actually ALL of them!!!

  4. My favourite birds are songbirds. But then again, I also like crows, magpies and ravens and they are HARDLY melodious.

  5. Mine is the Barn Swallow. I love to watch them nest at our cabin up the lake. Since we are not there they may nest under our front porch since I'm not there to protect the ledges. But by the time we get home they will probably already have fledged. - Margy

  6. Glad to see you blogging again. I found you by accident this time but had thought of e mailing to see how you are doing.
We are OK. I had not stocked up but we are fine for a few more days. I am baking bread today as we tend to go through that fast.
