I haven't been on my blog much this summer - but I've been busy - we had a wonderful visit from our son and his family from West Virginia in June - that was a good start to the summer. We've done a lot of bird watching, seems to be a particularly good year for birds.
Thank you to those who were concerned when I was absent from my blog - thanks for the notes and the concern.
We spent a day at Wylie Slough on Fir Island - near Conway, WA. The Shorebirds are beginning to migrate in and it was a wonderful day. The path is flat and well maintained, lots of good parking and lots of birds.

There were Lesser Yellowlegs and Greater Yellowlegs
Lots of them standing on logs floating in the slough as the tide came in.
Plenty of flapping about - and knocking others into the slough
And ruffled feathers
Flying in and landing
Trying to get the best spot
Lots of leg stretching and wing exercise
A couple squabbles
So many reflections in the water of the slough
And then they all flew up when a Great Blue Heron flew over
And then settled back onto the logs
It was indeed a great day.

I love birds on logs!! Such clear and gorgeous photos!
Amazing reflections and photos JoAnne. Good to see you bath blogging
Such lovely photographs JoAnn but a sure sign that Summer is coming to an end.
...it's great to see them spreading their wings.
Beautiful pictures with great reflections
I have been enjoying "Birds of the Pacific Northwest" as one of the best birding books I have read. Some if my daughter-in-law's photos were published in that book and yours are every bit as outstanding. Though most of out migrants come from Asia, it was interesting to compare that book with my local books and see how many are on our list too.
Isn't family time just the best!
Pretty pretty captures of the shorebirds Jo!
Hello, sounds like you had a great summer. It is awesome to catch both the Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs in the same photos. Love the reflections and all the birds. Great series of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
Wonderful shots! Love the ones of the yellowlegs all in a row and reflected in the water. The in-flight shots were great too. Beautiful post! I bet you really enjoyed seeing them.

Wonderful photos! I just love the way they are lined up on the thin log. Just popping over for a visit from Eileen's Saturday's Critters.
Have a lovely day,
Andrea
Beautiful photos!
Great reflection pictures of the birds!
Oh, Joann, it is good to see this post, and boy is it fantastic. I love pics with birds in a row or sitting on something all lined up. So I really loved this.
Neat picture of all those birds on the log!
What a wonderful collection of photos! Lovely birds! Great reflections in the water
Have a beautiful day!
Wonderful photo of the yellowlegs on the log. I spotted some lesser yellowlegs for the past couple of weeks, but they are just passing through our area. Happy birding.
Beautiful birds - your pix are awesome JoAnn.
Glad you've enjoyed your summer days.

We've been "busy" living up at the cabin all summer. Just came to Bellingham for a quick visit this week (eclipse and all). Coming down the lake one day I thought I saw a canoe in the distance. Our lake is part of a canoe route through the area. As we got closer it was a floating log with seagull sitting on top. Guess we wouldn't want to hit that either. - Margy
Great reflections! I love how you were able to capture reflections of the birds in flight.
Brilliant set of photos, never seen so many Yelloow legs togeather, and interesting for me as a Brit. to see both species to compare.
Thanks and take care, Gordon.
WOW!!! Great set of photos!
Hello!:) Fantastic captures of the shore birds. I like the line up, and reflections. Nicely done!
These are beautiful birds and you got some wonderful shots of them, including some nice reflections. I'm impressed with their one-legged balance. I don't think I'm up to that, even with my regular exercises!
